Angler’s Paradise

Angler’s Paradise

The great Indian subcontinent which is home to mighty mountains & very diverse landscape is also home to many rivers which is rich in fish. Two species however standout for sporting & their fighting capabilities are the mighty Himalayan Mahseer & Trout.

The Mahseer gets its name due to its incredible strength. ‘Mah’ means "great" and 'seer' means "head". The Mahseer is one of the fiercest fighting freshwater game fish that exist today. It is known for it’s strength and endurance just like the carp and the barbell found in the waters of the UK, but the similarity soon ends in the turbid waters of the Himalayan foothills where they can be found up to and altitude of 2500 feet above sea level. This is the angler’s delight.

The Himalayan streams are also host to the Trout, which were introduced in the rivers of Kashmir in the turn of the twentieth century. Over the years the fish have been introduced in many high altitude streams and lakes throughout the Himalayas - both Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout are to be found in a few rivers in the Himalayan foot hills.
