Ladakh – Rooftop of the world - is set in an enormous, barren yet spectacular landscape. This awesome land is a photographer’s delight as well as revered by followers of Mahayana Buddhism as it is the only place in the world where Lamaism – monastic form of buddism is lived & practiced in it’s original form. Land locked & hidden from the world by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Karakoram in the north and the Great Himalaya in the south Ladkh’s culture & heritage are well preserved. For nearly 900 years, from the middle of the 10th century, Ladakh was an independent kingdom, its ruling dynasties descending from the kings of old Tibet. Being the centre of the well known silk route – Leh the main city is a melting pot of various civilizations.
The tour goes through the hidden & narrow valley of Spiti to the Indus valley ( Ladakh ) after traversing two of the highest motorable mountain passes in the entire Himalayas.
